About Mark’s Mission
About Mark’s Mission
Mark’s Mission is inspired by Mark and his strength.
The main focus is a cycle challenge that three people will take on in May. The challenge combines three things close to Mark’s heart, his friendships, his love of rugby and cycling that we have done together.
Mark, Andrew and Derek have over many years gone to rugby matches, both the English Premiership and Internationals. We share a love of Northampton Saints as well as a good natured International rivalry in that Mark & Derek are passionate England rugby supporters and Andrew (thanks to his father) is a passionate Scot. Add into this Andrew’s brother, Duncan (another passionate Scot), and we have a lovely mix.
All of us over the years have entered many cycling sportives, rasing money for a wide range of charities. Mark, Andrew & Derek have cycled Nightrider (100km) in London on many occasions, as well as various cycling events in the Midlands (each one 50 miles). Duncan and Andrew have entered Ride London (100 miles) on a number of occasions and Duncan has twice ridden from London to Paris.
All of this, as well as Mark’s determination has inspired Andrew to come up with the challenge, that is Mark’s Mission.
Starting on 9 th May Andrew, Duncan and Derek will depart Newcastle Falcons rugby stadium, Kingston Park in Newcastle upon Tyne and cycle to every Premiership Rugby ground in the English Premiership.
Our route will take us to Sale Sharks in Manchester, Gloucester Rugby, Bath Rugby, Bristol Rugby, Exeter Chiefs in Exeter, Harlequins at the Stoop in London, Twickenham (Mark’s spiritual rugby home), Saracens in North London, Leicester Tigers and finally to Northampton Saints, finishing on Saturday 17 th May.
This journey will be just under 900 miles (1400 km) and we have 9 days to do it in so that we get to Northampton for the last home game of the season. No easy challenge but with Mark to inspire us we will get it done.
We cannot do this without lots of support and help and over other pages on this website we will highlight our partners and helpers who will get us to the finish line, we are so grateful to them.
Our aim is to raise awareness about brain tumours and to make people understand how devastating they are and how they affect those who have this terrible disease and how it affects their family and friends. We also want to raise as much as we can for Brain Tumour Research.
Every penny we raise will go to Brain Tumour Research, everyone involved in this challenge is giving their time and support for nothing. So please go to our events page where the route will be set out in more detail, go to our donate page, all the links will take you to our Just Giving page, and give generously, we have set ourselves a huge target, help us achieve that.
There will also be some other events to support us, these will be set out on the events page and will have separate Just Giving Pages, please go and see what they are and join in.
Please bear with us, this website has only just been set up and we are adding content all the time.
